Today, I have learned that UNIX-based operating systems (including Mac OS X) have a place where data goes to die (/dev/null), a file full of zeros (/dev/zero), and an extremely random information generator (/dev/random). Ok, I’m sort of lying. I’ve known about these places a long time. But I’ve been reading about them tonight, and it seemed to be the perfect time to bring them up. And, though I know it’s an old joke, I am absolutely positive that somewhere in /dev/random exist the complete works of Shakespeare. If this is true, imagine all the money we’ll save on bananas! What’s that you say? Sleep more? Okey dokey.
